India finally saw an end to the week-long Lakmè Fashion Week at Mumbai. Although I could not be physically present, my heart and soul travelled all the way there and probably occupied a front row seat at the Fashion Week. Thanks to the live updates by the event’s official Instagram and Facebook page, I did not however miss out on the updates (thank goodness for social media).
This season of the Lakmè Fashion Week significantly appealed to me, more so because of its heavy emphasis of Indian Weaves, Indian Prints and of course a lot of Sari Swag. The designers played around with drape styles and that too with simple handwoven Sarees.
One label that particularly struck my interest was Ilk by Shikha Grover and Vinita Adhikari. Among all other outfits on the runway of their “Error 508 Loop Detected” collection, the ones with the sari absolutely blew me. The quirky drape styles inspired me to create a similar look.
I gave my own twist to this look by teaming a traditional Kasavu Saree with a regular work-wear shirt. The Kasavu is a traditional saree from the Indian state of Kerala. I kept the accessories minimal with just a beige bag and a ear cuff.

Did you like the outfit? Let me know in the comments. I have a whole lot of other exciting looks coming up for you.
