Exploring new heights: Trip to Darjeeling, Day 1

Just about the time when the weather in the City of Joy (not quite joyful since the past month) had reached 41 degrees Celsius, came in my family vacation to Darjeeling. Usually I am not too fond of leaving home for too long, but this time my joy knew no bounds. Not only was this a chance to happily escape the blazing furnace in my city, more so it was a much deserved break. As a matter of fact, this post is being typed sitting under my blanket (Do I smell green?). As the hotel WIFI constantly keeps getting disconnected, I am struggling to get this post done. The reason? I cannot wait to share the amount of fun I had today.

So, my day started off with a wide-spread breakfast at Glenary’s. Glenary’s happens to be one of the oldest cafes in Darjeeling and to this date happens to retain the old British charm. Even passing by Glenary’s can manage to make one hungry thanks to the aroma of freshly baked cakes and bread.

Once full of energy, we started off on our click-happy mission to explore the markets of Darjeeling and of course indulge in some retail therapy. Here are some pictures of Darjeeling which I took.

And when it comes to Darjeeling, who can forget the famous Darjeeling Tea. Hence our day included a major Darjeeling Tea indulgence as well.

My day did not quite end here. We also had an amazing dinner of Vodka and Steaming Soup (the only two things to keep us warm). I’ll be back with more pictures of the rest of my stay. So now I better rush to bed and prepare myself for a bigger day tomorrow.

Lot’s of love.

  2. Very nice pics.Seriously the blistering heat is killing us in Kolkata and there seems to be no respite.
