Kolkata Street Tales Part 1

I still get wildly enthusiastic about little things… I play with leaves. I skip down the street and run against the wind.
-Leo Buscaglia

As much as I agree with Buscaglia on the enthusiasm quotient, so do I have to add my love for Street Fashion. Being a proud citizen of the City of Joy, I make the most of the fashion that exists in the streets. Of the many places, one of my personal favorites would be the South Kolkata market of Gariahat. If you are planning to let go of the comforts of a shopping mall for some really low-priced imaginative fashion, this is the place for you. The long stretches of bags, belts, jewelry and clothes have never ceased to amaze me.

So here are a few of my summer picks:

Tote bags are a BIG must this summer. Even if you are not spending a day at the beach, carry it on a regular day. Not only does it prep up your outfit, it is also extremely functional. It will fit your entire summer world in it-scarves, sunglasses, sunscreen, wet-wipes….the list goes on.

Summer=Bright Colors.
What’s better to add colors to your outfit than a chic belt. Be it on a white summer dress or denims, nothing speaks summer than a bright colored belt. This place has a lot of choices to offer.

Save yourself from the sun by covering yourself with a colorful stole. Not only does it spunk up your outfit, it also does great to prevent sunburns.

And last, but not the least, jewel it up. I feel there is no season for the perfect jewelry. This place has been a classic favorite when it comes to jewelry shopping.

I had plans of clicking more pictures, but the heat waves finally got the better of me and I had to hop into a cab and get back home. I will definitely try to bring to you more pictures the next time I visit. Till then stay hydrated and Happy Summers!

You can read a post of on of my street hauls from this market here.

XOXO
