Those of you who belong to Bengal know the importance of Durga Puja in the state. In fact, this autumn festival runs a major part part of the state’s economy. For the urban class, “Pujo” effect is usually noticed in the different stores, quite specifically the ones housing ethnic fashion. These stores do not follow the rules of “Spring-Summer” or “Autumn-Winter”. For them, few months ahead of the big autumn festival requires a ritual of bringing in a fresh new stock of ethnic wear. Stores selling sarees are crowded with women choosing carefully pieces for their own, as well as their near and dear ones.

Being the ethnic-lover, I am always on the lookout for the perfect store. One of my favorites would be this particular boutique run by Piu, an extremely sweet lady. She calls her boutique “Piu’s Collection”, a name well justified. This store has the most beautiful collection of traditional as well as contemporary sarees.

She has traditional weaves like Dhakai Jamdani, Assam Silk. Gadwaal and many others along with contemporary designs like Chanderi, Tussar, Netted weaves among others. She also gets customized sarees as per requirement.

Check out a few of her collection:

And here are a few designer sarees which will soon be a part of her collection

Do visit her store at the Unnayan Commercial Complex, 1050/1 Survey Park, Kolkata-75.
