From Nepal, with Love

Yes, that’s right. Pure love it was- love for good food, great decor, lovely people and an evening of pure bliss. Confused? Well, I am talking of  this super-awesome party I attended hosted by Johanne Mantosh.

The pretty host

Johanne, a young, beautiful restaurateur based in Kolkata has opened a new pop-up restaurant with exotic Nepalese cuisine and hence the party. The decor was too good to be true. There were paper lanterns hanging by the trees and her beautiful lawn looked heavenly. When it comes to throwing parties, no one can get better than this young lady.

The party came with a lot of surprises. The first and foremost being the crazy cocktails served. There was a huge variety of Martini and other fruit cocktail. There were some bizarre ones like the “phuchka shot”, the “ganna shot” and the “jell-o shot”. I couldn’t stop myself from trying all of them and trust me , they were crazily fabulous.

The second round of surprise were the lovely guests present in the party. First and foremost we were introduced to a group of Chefs from Nepal, who were the secret behind the extremely palatable Nepalese cuisine we had later for dinner. Present among the guests was Bridgette Jones, a stylist. She actually gave me hair style tips over a drink! Could the evening get any better? Yes it could! Because, came in Raima Sen to the party and even better, we got to click pictures with her! We also met this brilliant photographer Rana da and yes I got clicked!! 🙂

And last but not the least, the food! It was exotic. There were different kinds of salads, including one made of shredded chicken. The main course consisted of Jeera Rice, mutton and other quintessential Nepalese stuff. For dessert, there was yummy Malpua and Kheer.

Before we left, Johanne, being the perfect sweetheart gave each of us a beautiful batua with a “thank you” note inside. Though I kept wondering that it should have been me thanking her profusely for making me a part of this beautiful evening.

  2. […] What is the first thing that crosses your mind when the prettiest girl in town (who throws the best parties ever) sends you an invitation to her birthday party which is even more fashionably themed “Shabby Chic”? For me it was sheer excitement followed by a quick scan of my closet in my mind. Finally dressing myself in shabby chic attire (after a thorough research on shabby chic on the internet) I headed to the coolest birthday party ever thrown by the hot restaurateur Johanne Mantosh (Read about her pop-up restaurant here).
