The other day while I was strolling lazily in Gariahat, I spotted a Banquet Hall filled with beautiful people busily coming in and out and a lot of activity going on around there. Curious, I peeped in, only to find a nicely laid “Chaitra” exhibition. “Chaitra” is a month in the Hindu lunar calendar which happens to be the last month before the New Year. This month is more popular among Bengalis for the lucrative sales all around the city.
Coming back to the exhibition, it housed mesmerizing collections from various boutiques of the city. These boutiques, mainly run by the talented ladies of West Bengal who manage to take out time off their daily chores for their passion for style and fashion.
They had a wide range of costume jewelry in traditional designs. These are made of bronze and are plated with 22 carat gold.
Alankaar Haat has a beautiful collection of contemporary fashion jewelry. I particularly loved the black stole with the big jewel piece which eventually i ended up buying.
Apart from the above mentioned boutiques there were many others with beautiful collection of Saris, Kurtas, Mekhla Sadors and other Indian Wear.
These boutiques truly showcases the talent among the people here who manage to take out time and create such masterpieces.
For the final touch, keep that gorgeous smile on and stay stylish. Do let me know if you want me to contact any of these boutiques.
